Such situations arise in case of haemodynamic instability (hypertension/ hypotension), airway or respiratory compromise (such as ventilator support), acute renal failure, potentially lethal cardiac arrhythmias, the cumulative effects of multiple organ system failure, or even in the crucial hours after major surgeries when the patient is deemed too unstable to transfer to a less intensively monitored unit. This discipline is technologically advanced and resource intensive area of medical care and it integrates many specialties and diverse technologies, holding out the hope of survival to patients who are acutely and critically ill. The care provided in our state of the art ICU is with unwavering commitment, precision and synchronized teamwork.

Medical emergencies are increasing at an exponential rate every day. You'll have one-to-one care from a specialist nurse, working alongside the rest of our team. We work to get you well and stable enough to move to a less intensive care environment, such as a high dependency unit or a hospital ward.

Neuro ICU

The Neuro ICU staff has advanced critical care training as well as continuous advanced instruction covering basic neurophysiology, neuroanatomy, neuro assessment and emergency neuro resuscitation.

Our highly trained professionals specialize in the care of critically ill neuro patients and work closely with the attending neurosurgical specialists. The patients in the our Neuro ICU suffer from severe brain injuries, stroke or brain tumors and many are post-op from a neurosurgical procedure. These can include insertion of various invasive brain monitoring devices, craniotomy for trauma, cerebral aneurysm repair or tumor resection. Patients having minimally-invasive endovascular procedures to repair aneurysms or other cerebral vascular diseases will also be monitored during recovery in our Neuro ICU. In addition to the frequent and expert clinical exams conducted by nurses and other personnel, advanced monitoring techniques including ICP, bedside chemical analysis and continuous electroencephalographic (EEG) monitoring are routinely employed when appropriate.
